Implant-supported dentures
A denture that clicks onto implants stays in place when you talk and eat, but you can still take it out to clean it. For many people it is the sensible middle way.

How it works
Two or more implants are placed in the jaw and fitted with attachments – small ball, locator or bar connections. The denture has matching parts inside and snaps onto them. It no longer relies on suction or adhesive, which is especially welcome in the lower jaw, where conventional dentures tend to move.
Compared with a fixed full arch
| Implant-supported denture | Fixed full arch (e.g. All-on-4) | |
|---|---|---|
| Removable by you | Yes | No, screwed in |
| Number of implants | Often fewer | Usually four to six or more |
| Cleaning | Take out and brush | Brushes and water flosser around and under the bridge |
| Feel | Covers more of the palate in the upper jaw | Closer to natural teeth |
Maintenance
The small retention inserts wear over time and are replaced from time to time – a routine job. The denture should be checked regularly so that it continues to fit as the jaw changes. If you live far from Bodrum, ask how and where these checks can be done.
