Questions to ask before having implants abroad
Good clinics welcome questions. Here is a checklist you can copy into your notes and use with any clinic – in Bodrum or anywhere else.
About diagnosis and planning
- What imaging will you base the plan on – panoramic X-ray, CBCT or both?
- What alternatives are there to the plan you suggest?
- Will I need bone grafting or a sinus lift, and how sure can you be before the examination?
About the people
- Who will place the implants, and who will make the crowns or bridge?
- How often does the dentist do this type of treatment?
- Which languages are spoken during appointments?
About materials
- Which implant system and line do you plan to use?
- Will I receive documentation with batch numbers?
- What material will the temporary and final teeth be made of?
About time and travel
- How many trips and how many days per trip should I plan?
- When can I fly after surgery?
- What happens if healing takes longer than expected?
About cost and responsibility
- Can I have a written, itemised estimate?
- Which situations would change the price?
- What warranty applies, and what conditions does it have?
- How do you handle complications after I return home?
Write the answers down. If two clinics give very different plans for the same images, ask both to explain why – the explanation often tells you more than the plan itself.
